Sime Darby Property reiterated its pledge to thousands of school children in 31 schools within its 10 townships to nurture their needs in preparation for the future through its Educational Enhancement Programme. Working closely with the Ministry of Education, Federal Territory and Selangor s Education Department and the schools, Sime Darby Property strives to complement educational activities through the various programmes held between August 2009 to June 2010.?
A closing ceremony to make the successful completion of all the educational activities was held on 29 July 2010 and officiated by the Ministry of Education s (MoE) Deputy Director General of Education Policy and Development, Y.Bhg. Dr. Khair bin Mohamad Yusof, representing the Director General of the Ministry of Education. Also present at the event were Sime Darby Property collaborative partners in the programme, namely Bank Simpanan Nasional, Kuala Selangor Nature Park and Newspaper-in-Education Unit of The New Straits Times.???
The Sime Darby Property s Educational Enhancement Programme (EEP) is part of Sime Darby Property s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment to give back to the communities that it operates in, mainly focusing on nurturing education and environmental awareness, with the aim of enhancing knowledge and capabilities among the younger generation.
When we build our townships, our role doesn t end when the sales are concluded and the homes completed because we believe in building relationship with our customers and continue to engage our communities and their children in meaningful activities that could enrich their lives, said Sime Darby Property Managing Director, ?Dato Tunku Putra Badlishah.
Meanwhile, Dr. Khair in his speech commended Sime Darby Property s efforts in working together with the Ministry in executing the Educational Enhancement Programmes. Business and society are equal partners in the advancement of the greater community. Business is not solely about making economic returns, it is also about people and values and it is heartening to have proactive corporation like Sime Darby Property who is willing to partner the Government by executing activities that complement our efforts as well, said Dr. Khair.
Under the Educational Enhancement Programme, the students had the opportunity to attend The Mastering English Programme (Intensive Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah and Penilaian Menengah Rendah Workshop Session) and the Creative Workshop Series to equip them with better command of the language for creative use. Meanwhile, participants of the Nature Camp are taught to appreciate the fragility and wonders of our mangrove eco-system, our waterways and the protection of our coastline.
The Educational Enhancement Programme is also reflective of the synergistic collaboration between the company, the township s community (18 primary schools and 13 secondary schools), and the Ministry of Education.
