SUBANG JAYA, 13 March 2009? The Malaysian property market appears to be resilient regardless of the current economic situation, going by the tremendous response to the latest installment of Sime Darby Property s (SDP) Parade of Homes , which saw property sales of RM86 million within its first 4 days.
Nearly a thousand potential buyers visited the Parade of Homes booth during MAPEX 09 as well as the sales galleries at Sime Darby Property s 10 townships between 6th to 9th March, during which its RM1.4 million Mezzo semi-detached homes in Bukit Jelutong were sold out.
The main factors contributing to strong sales, according to the Managing Director of Sime Darby Property Dato Tunku Putra Badlishah,? are the Parade of Homes exclusive benefits which include an interest rate of BLR minus 2.3%, special down payment scheme (whereby customers could opt to pay in instalments of up to 12 months) and no-interest charge during the construction period.
Evidently, our continuous research has given us an insight of property buyers needs and concerns.? These findings have allowed us the ability to offer property buyers unique packages during our Parade of Homes campaign which have provided many Malaysians with the opportunity to make their dream of home ownership a reality, he said.
SDP s first Parade of Homes launched in June 2008 attracted over 15,000 visitors and generated sales worth more than RM246 million over a period of nine days, while the second campaign organised in November 2008 generated over RM146 million in sales even as Malaysians began to face the pandemic effects of a faltering global economy.
The success of the previous 2 Parade of Homes has contributed to the commendable 1st Half of FY2008 financial results of Sime Darby Property. Revenue increased by 7% compared to the First Half of last year to RM566 million, whereas most other major property players reported significant declines during the same period.?
Based on the newly-released figures by the National Property Information Centre (NAPIC) for the second half of 2008 (2H 2008), there was a significant 54% drop in units sold with only 1,781 units sold compared to the same period in the previous year at 3,872 units.
Commenting on NAPIC s statistics, Dato Tunku Putra Badlishah said, We are particularly happy with our overall performance and the take up rate of our products even though NAPIC s data shows a decline in sales of new launches for residential properties during the Second Half of 2008 (2H 2008) .
In addition to the very attractive financial packages being offered to our property buyers, we are also very pleased to note that our customers are buying because of our good track record, quality products, reputation as a reliable developer and most importantly the trust and confidence towards the Sime Darby Property brand name, added Dato Tunku Putra Badlishah.
Sime Darby Property s latest instalment of Parade of Homes which began on 6 March? 2009 in conjunction with MAPEX 09 will continue until 15 June 2009, covering both residential and commercial properties in Sime Darby Property s 10 townships.
SDP s FREEHOLD properties range from affordable homes to high-end residences. With townships in Subang Jaya, Bukit Jelutong, USJ Heights, Bandar Bukit Raja, Ara Damansara, Denai Alam, Melawati, Nilai Impian, Planters Haven and Putra Heights, it caters to different consumer demands and preferences with different types of residential properties such as link and semi-detached houses, bungalow land, service apartments and shop offices throughout Malaysia, with a particular focus on the areas of Klang Valley and Selangor.
