Celebrate Malaysia’s Most Fun Golf Event in October, 2016
Kuala Lumpur, 23 May 2016 - For the seventh year running, Sime Darby will support the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia 2016, an event that lives up to its reputation as “Malaysia’s most fun golf event”. As in previous years, the 2016 edition will be held at the East Course of Malaysia’s number one golf club, the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club, from 27th – 30th October, 2016. The event promises to deliver a dynamic, fun and all-round fantastic event experience for golf and sporting fans alike.
Dato’ Ir. Jauhari Hamidi, Managing Director of Sime Darby Property said, “A host of new elements introduced during recent editions will be making reappearances in 2016 to ensure a great day out for all sports fans. The Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia organising committee is always looking for new initiatives and innovations, and this year will be no different.” Over the past six years, the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia has supported Cancer Research Malaysia to raise awareness on breast cancer prevention and treatment within Malaysia. Yayasan Sime Darby, the philanthropic arm of Sime Darby, has been driving this programme throughout the tournament’s history, working closely with Cancer Research Malaysia on many projects. A popular feature of the Sime Darby LPGA, “PINK SATURDAY”, encourages all players, officials and visitors to the tournament to wear pink. This will continue this year along with other initiatives to raise awareness and knowledge of cancer prevention and treatment. An important feature of the Sime Darby LPGA leading up to the event is the Sime Darby LPGA Development Programme which has been a part of the event since its inception. The Sime Darby LPGA Development Programme prepares Malaysia’s best female players, especially promising young talent, for the local and regional qualifiers in which players compete for a spot in the Sime Darby LPGA. The Sime Darby LPGA features the world’s very best female golfers and has an expansive domestic and global footprint, reaching more than 150 territories worldwide with a global audience of over 200,000,000 households.
