Battersea Power Station today announced the first brand to open on Electric Boulevard, London’s newest high street. International high-street favourite, ZARA, will be joining the exciting mix of retail and leisure brands opening their doors at the new riverside destination. The new store will span 48,800 sq ft and will be the brand’s first central London store situated south of the river.

The new store will be situated on Electric Boulevard, an exciting new high street for the capital that will run from the south of the Power Station, between Frank Gehry’s Prospect Place and Foster + Partners’ Battersea Roof Gardens. The new high street will offer a mix of bars and restaurants, office space, shops, a park, community hub and a new 164 room hotel from art’otel®, the brand’s first hotel to open in the UK.

ZARA is the latest fashion favourite to join the line-up of exciting British and international brands set to call Battersea Power Station home such as Ray-Ban, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, The Kooples, Mango, Reiss, Aēsop and Calvin Klein.

Customers visiting the new ZARA will be able to shop all the brand’s product ranges within one store, including Woman, Man, Kids and Home collections. The store will be spread across two floors within the stunning ‘Prospect Place’, designed by internationally renowned architect, Frank Gehry.

Battersea Power Station will become the capital’s leading retail and leisure destination for Londoners and international visitors once it opens from September 2022.

Simon Murphy, Chief Executive Officer at Battersea Power Station Development Company (BPSDC), said:
“We are creating a completely new high street for London and to have an internationally renowned high street brand like ZARA open a significant store in the UK and the first store south of the river in central London at Battersea Power Station is a testament to the continued desirability of this unique project. With our very own London Underground station and river bus pier, we’re also set to be one of the best-connected shopping, dining and cultural areas in the capital and we look forward to welcoming visitors to Battersea Power Station from September of this year.”

Sam Cotton, Head of Leasing at Battersea Power Station Development Company (BPSDC), said:
“Bringing powerhouse brands such as ZARA to Battersea Power Station is very exciting and helps firmly cement us as the new go-to place for shopping in London. There is no doubt that Battersea Power Station will be one of the must-visit destinations once we open the Grade II* listed building and Electric Boulevard to the public from September this year. We have already announced a strong line-up of brands and all I can say is watch this space as there’s still more to come!”

Battersea Power Station will be the centrepiece of a new ‘15-minute’ live, work and play neighbourhood, which will act as a new hub for the local and wider communities, a new business quarter for the capital and a retail and leisure destination for Londoners and international visitors. The Power Station will be home to 254 residential apartments, over 100 retail shops, restaurants and cafés, including a unique 18,500 sq ft food hall concept, office and event spaces.

Circus West Village, the first completed chapter in the regeneration of Battersea Power Station, is already home to over 1,700 residents and more than 20 bars, restaurants, cafés, fitness and leisure offerings.

About Battersea Power Station:

  • Battersea Power Station is one of central London’s largest, most visionary and eagerly anticipated new riverside neighbourhoods. The £9bn regeneration project will see the creation of a vibrant, mixed-use destination offering a community of homes, shops, restaurants, offices, culture and leisure venues, as well as 19 acres of public space, all serviced by an extension to the London Underground Northern Line.
  • The Battersea Power Station project covers 42 acres and includes 3.5m sq ft of mixed commercial space, together with 4,239 new homes.
  • The successful regeneration of Battersea Power Station will create 20,000 new jobs, generate long term career opportunities for local residents and inject £20bn into the UK economy. A new NHS medical facility is also being built.
  • Circus West Village, the first chapter of the regeneration of Battersea Power Station, is already a thriving riverside destination and home to over 1,800 people. Offering an eclectic mix of independent and design-led bars, restaurants, shops, fitness and wellbeing facilities, a cinema, a theatre and an ongoing events programme, this new neighbourhood welcomes over three million people on average per year.
  • The Grade II* listed Power Station, the second phase of the development, will house over 100 shops, restaurants and cafes, an events venue, a unique chimney lift experience offering 360-degree panoramic views of London’s skyline, new office space and 254 new residential apartments. The building will open to the public from September 2022.
  • With the recently opened Zone 1 Battersea Power Station Underground station on the Northern Line Extension, the development is only a 15 minute journey from the West End and the City. It also has its very own Uber Boat by Thames Clippers pier and is 15 minute journey from Embankment, 20 minutes from Blackfriars, 30 minutes from Putney and 40 minutes from Canary Wharf. Battersea Power Station is easily accessible by bus, bike, car and train too.
  • The wider Battersea Power Station development is owned by a consortium of Malaysian investors comprised of S P Setia (40%), Sime Darby Property (40%) and The Employees’ Provident Fund (20%), with the commercial assets within the Power Station building now being directly owned by Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) and EPF.
  • Management of the development is being undertaken by the British-based Battersea Power Station Development Company.
