ARA DAMANSARA, 4 JULY 2022 – Sime Darby Property Berhad (“Sime Darby Property” or “Company”) celebrated its Auxiliary Police (“AP”) unit’s 6th anniversary recently with a history-making event at the Pusat Latihan Polis (“PULAPOL”) Kuala Lumpur. The Company’s AP unit is the nation’s first company to conduct their anniversary parade at PULAPOL Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s oldest police academy and training institute.

Sime Darby Property’s Group Managing Director, Dato’ Azmir Merican in his opening speech affirmed the Group’s commitment to maintain the safety and security at its townships across the country. 

He said, “As a leading property developer, the safety and well-being of our communities; the residents, business owners and tenants across our 25 townships and developments is an utmost priority. Introducing our own Auxiliary Police unit has allowed us to add value and support efforts by the PDRM as a force multiplier in combating crime and improve security, as well as participate in programmes and activities with the communities at our townships. 

Sime Darby Property’s AP unit was formed in 2015 and received its official approval for establishment from the PDRM on 25 May 2016. There are 126 active personnel currently serving the unit that consist of 75 percent male and 25 percent female officers.  A total of 90 AP personnel were honoured at the celebration to promote the ‘Pride in Blue’ culture in the unit and resonate the Company’s commitment in ensuring the security of assets and communities within its townships.

PDRM’s Director of Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department, Commissioner of Police Dato’ Aidi Ismail said that the establishment of AP is provided under Section 47 of the Police Act 1967 (Act 344) with the authority to carry out duties, powers, and privileges within prescribed area. 
“The role of Auxiliary Police is to assist PDRM in safekeeping the areas in which they are stationed. Auxiliary Police is recognised as supporting resources in safeguarding communities and the country,” said Dato’ Aidi. 

He also emphasised that AP officers play an important role in ensuring that the integrity and discipline of its servicemen reflect the respectable image and function of PDRM. 

Also in attendance at the event were Bukit Aman’s Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department’s Deputy Director, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Datuk Mazli Mazlan; and PULAPOL Kuala Lumpur Commander, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police, Kamal Faizul Mohd Zain.
