Sime Darby Property Comes Out Tops Down Under

18 December 2008 - Sime Darby Property’s resorts in Western Australia – one on the shores of the quaintly named Lake Beedelup and the other in the heart of wine country – have won the highest accolades of the state’s hotel and hospitality industry.

The Karri Valley Resort won the award for “WA’s Best Regional Accommodation Hotel/Resort of the Year 2008” and was a finalist in “WA’s Best Mid-Range Accommodation Award” and “WA’s Best Resort Style Accommodation Award”, while the Quest Margaret River won the award for “WA’s Best Apartment/Suite Accommodation Award”.

“It is certainly an honour but more importantly, the Awards are recognition from the highest level of the dedication, quality and initiative we put into the management of our assets,” said Managing Director of Sime Darby Property, Dato’ Tunku Badlishah.

The recent 2008 Australian Hotels Association’s (AHA) AON Hotel Awards for Excellence saw entries in 45 categories which highlighted standards of excellence in areas including service, presentation, redevelopment, tourism and accommodation.

“Standards across the industry have never been as high. Hoteliers continue to rise to the occasion by setting exceptional standards of excellence for the WA hotel industry each year and the AHA AON Hotel Awards for Excellence continue to be the most prestigious awards night for the industry each year,” said AHA (WA) CEO Bradley Woods.

Situated a leisurely three and half hours drive from Perth in Western Australia's South West, Karri Valley Resort is quietly nestled on the shores of Lake Beedelup. It offers 32 Lakeside studios with a private balcony overlooking the lake, and 36 secluded chalets situated in the heart of the forest. All chalets have a log fire, fully equipped kitchen and washing machine, spacious living and dining area with balcony.

With over 55 resort activities there is something for everyone to enjoy at Karri Valley Resort, including: self guided nature walks, trout fishing, craft classes, mountain bike riding, night walks, mini golf, archery and more. The Quest Margaret River opened in November 2004 and was previously awarded the “Best Redeveloped Accommodation Property” by the Australian Hotel Association in Western Australia in 2005. The service apartment offers quality and well-appointed studio and apartment accommodation together with a fully-equipped kitchen and a separate living room for small meetings. Facilities include a heated outdoor swimming pool, half-court tennis, barbeque facilities and a lounge bar.

The resort is situated at the entrance to the Margaret River township and is just a short drive to some of the states and Australia's premier wineries, as well as the magnificent beaches of the Margaret River region.
